High School Innovative Programs

Cambridge

The Cambridge International Program prepares students for college and careers by offering a curriculum of rigor that is recognized internationally, preparing them for post-secondary coursework, and allowing the opportunity for students to earn college credits while in high school. The Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) courses will allow our South Broward High students the opportunity to earn the International AICE diploma and enhance their high school experience. The Cambridge courses will be strategically selected and will enhance the curriculum of our currently established Marine Magnet program, our Computer Science Education program, and our growing Fine Arts program.

The program will provide students a high quality education which will prepare them for post secondary education and allow them the opportunity to earn college credit while attending high school. Students will earn an internationally renowned special diploma that is recognized by colleges and universities all over the world.

Dual Enrollment

Coral Springs High School (CSHS) has built a strong partnership with Broward College to provide a unique educational opportunity for college-ready students. We continue to increase enrollment and offer the largest on-campus dual enrollment program in Broward County. College-bound students who meet the requirements for dual enrollment will be able to take college courses through Broward College which provide an opportunity for students to engage in a rigorous curriculum that integrates core academics necessary for a four-year degree, while completing a high school diploma. Students in our program receive a scope of services focused on personalizing their educative experience beyond regular school standards to meet the post secondary challenges of the 21st century by encouraging students to develop patterns of behavior that promote academic and social success on a global scale.

Fire Academy

Coral Springs High has built an alliance with the Coral Springs Fire Academy to strengthen its partnership with the City of Coral Springs as it provides a unique educational opportunity for students interested in becoming firefighters or paramedics to be taught by certified firefighters. This joint venture is a three-year Industry Certification Program beginning in the 10th grade.

Global Academy of Environmental Research & Design

Are you concerned with the American environment and its impact on human health? If so, this may be the program for you. Students will be challenged to research and develop their own invention to solve an environmental problem from reducing pollution to other concerns impacting the environment.

Institute of Geospatial Studies

The institute specializes in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and technology, while building a strong research foundation within the field of social science. Students will be prepared to enter college with a strong research background and unique skills in spatial analysis and problem solving. This also aligns with the current STEM initiative at the school.

Linking Education and Employment Outcomes (LEEO)

Coral Springs High School (CSHS) has built an alliance with Forest Glen Middle (FGM) to provide vertical articulation for Linking Education and Employment Outcomes (LEEO). The LEEO project is a unique educational opportunity for students to become certified in various vocations in tandem with becoming employment ready. Broward College and Citrix Corporation are in partnership with the LEEO project helping to raise the standards on vocational programs, as well as providing real-life working situations through project-based learning. Strong mapping between academic success and life-long learning is linked to the collegial relationships among Coral Springs High and Forest Glen Middle. Our students will receive a scope of educational practical experiences beyond regular high school standards to be forerunners in career and college readiness.

Linking Education and Employment Outcomes (LEEO)

McArthur High School’s Linking Education and Employment Outcomes (LEEO) Innovative Program is sponsored by the Broward County Public Schools in collaboration with Apollo Middle School, Broward College, and Citrix, a high-tech company dedicated to transforming the workplace through informational technology in a flexible and humanistic environment. McArthur High School is a designated Industry Certification Academy. All students involved will be provided the opportunity to earn several certifications in alignment with their CAPE academy thus increasing their college and career readiness. The essential purpose is to have students develop a solid foundation to further their post-secondary studies and career interests.

Mustang University

This Innovative Program is designed to increase school-wide learning and performance through providing students the opportunity for advancement to the post-secondary level. The purpose of this Innovative Program is to give students the opportunity to work toward and obtain an associate of arts college (two-year) degree in a major of their choice while simultaneously working on their high school diploma.

Sports Medicine

Everglades High School Sports Medicine Innovative Program is designed for highly motivated students who are interested in pursuing careers in the area of sports medicine. This program will provide a rigorous curriculum focusing on experiential learning in the areas of science, health and wellness. Some of the features of this innovative program include two consecutive blocks of science during each school year to enable students to complete hands-on experiments, university level research, and clinical observations; as well as AP level coursework. An additional feature of this program is Industry Certification in the area of Health and Wellness. Everglades High School Sports Medicine participants will enter as ninth graders and will progress through the program as a cohort group.

STEM Academy

The STEM Academy will have two academic tracks: Bio-Technology and Engineering. Bio-Technology is the incorporation of biological sciences with technology, and can be applied to a number of careers such as medicine, agriculture, or forensics. The engineering track is for students interested in a mechanical, an electrical or aerospace engineering career.
