Yoyo Ma Celebrates the Arts at Walker Elementary School

The artist will visit several classes at Walker Elementary School, perform for the students during an assembly, participate in a question and answer session and share his personal life journey.

Marine Magnet Schools Named as Nationally Certified Schools

Magnet Schools of America (MSA), the national association for magnet and theme-based schools, named New River Middle School and South Broward High School a nationally certified magnet school. New River Middle School and South Broward High School were among 38 schools located in 12 states (AL, CA, CT, FL, GA, LA, MN, NC, NV, SC, TN, and TX) to successfully complete a rigorous nine-month evaluation process.  Schools demonstrate through evidence, reflection and strategic action that it has established the best practices entailed in the Magnet School Standards of Excellence.

Broward County Public Schools Receive 2018 National Magnet Schools of America Merit Awards

Ten Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) were named by Magnet Schools of America (MSA) as 2018 Magnet Schools of Excellence and Magnet Schools of Distinction

MSA’s National Merit Awards program honors the top magnet schools in the United States. These awards recognize magnet schools that demonstrate commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation and diversity efforts, and consistent delivery of high quality educational services to all stakeholders.

Dillard Students Paint Murals on School Walls Creating Exterior Halls of Beauty

Dillard students painted a series of murals on walls throughout the campus of Dillard 6-12 School. Through a block grant by the Broward Cultural Division, students worked with muralist Alex Vahan, who lent his expertise of 20+ years painting exterior murals to this project. Alex and Dillard’s Digital Arts Design Teacher, Stacey Jenkins worked with the students providing guidance through the initial concept development, rough sketches, digital illustration, mock-ups, and implementation of mural painting.
